Balto Alternatives for Small Sales Teams (2026)

Balto is real-time guidance for contact centers, and its own FAQ says it “may not be the best choice” for teams with fewer than 10 agents or with long, complex sales cycles. It also works only with softphones, guides phone calls only, and is priced by quote. If your team has fewer than ten people, or most of your calls happen on Zoom, Meet or Teams, look instead at the AI coach inside your phone system (Aircall, Dialpad or Ringover), or at a desktop assistant such as Realtimer that works on any call.
Checked in October 2026. Facts about Balto come from its FAQ, and about the other tools from their own pages, linked in the text. We make Realtimer, one of the tools below.
What Balto is built for
Balto’s FAQ says plainly who it’s for. Its best customers are “B2C contact center teams that directly impact revenue through customer interactions,” running inbound, outbound or both. During a call, agents get answers and guidance (Agent Assist) and notes as the conversation goes; managers get coaching tools, automatic QA scoring and conversation insights.
The setup assumes a contact center:
- Balto runs alongside a softphone such as RingCentral, Five9 or Convoso; it isn’t a phone system itself.
- Real-time guidance covers phone calls only.
- Standard integrations take about 45 days, new ones about 60, with Balto’s technical team doing most of the work.
- Balto doesn’t exchange data directly with CRMs; if your softphone runs inside a CRM, that part can integrate.
- Pricing depends on the number of seats and the contract length. Balto doesn’t publish it; aggregator sites list figures from $29 to $100 or more per user a month, which Balto hasn’t confirmed.
Balto also publishes the results it expects: customers “typically see a 16% lift in sales,” a 53 second reduction in average handle time and 65% faster ramp time for new agents. These are Balto’s own figures. Beyond agent assist, Balto now sells Togo, a voice AI agent that handles structured, repeatable calls on its own.
For a large contact center, that setup makes sense. For five people selling on Zoom, most of it doesn’t apply.
Where small teams don’t fit
| If your team... | Balto | What to look at instead |
|---|---|---|
| Has fewer than 10 people | Balto’s FAQ says it may not be the best choice | A tool sold per seat with a public price |

| Runs long B2B deals with demos | Balto’s FAQ points elsewhere | Answers from your playbook and battlecards |
| Has no softphone | Balto needs one | The coach inside your phone system, or a desktop assistant |
| Wants to start this week | About 45 days to integrate | Tools you install yourself |
The alternatives
The coach inside your phone system
If your reps already call through one of these, start here. There’s nothing new to integrate.
Aircall AI Assist Pro launched in July 2025. During a call it shows a live transcript and prompts that appear on their own when a tough question comes up, guided by a sales playbook of your choice (SPICED, BANT, MEDDIC or PACTT). Afterwards you get a summary, a call score, CRM updates and a follow-up draft. It costs $49 per user a month on annual billing and can be added to any Aircall plan; the Professional plan already includes the conversation intelligence it builds on.
Dialpad Ai shows live coach cards when a keyword comes up, such as a competitor’s name or a pricing question, plus speech coaching for pace and filler words. A manager writes and maintains the cards. Coaching is part of Dialpad plans; reviews estimate $60 to $80 per user a month for the tiers that include it.
Ringover AIRO Coach is a Chrome extension that works with Zoom, Teams and Meet as well as Ringover calls. It coaches delivery (tone, pace, engagement) more than content, and it’s included in Ringover plans.
Aircall and Dialpad coach only calls made through them. Their help comes from a sales framework, cards someone wrote in advance, or coaching on how you speak, so check whether that covers the questions your buyers actually ask.
Realtimer
Realtimer is a Mac app that listens to the call on your computer, so it works with any call app, phone dialers in the browser included, and nothing joins the call. When the buyer asks something specific (the price of a plan, how you compare to a competitor, whether you have a security document), you press a key and see an answer from your own playbook, battlecards and price list in about a second, with the source. Prices come from the row in your price list, and the numbers in the answer are checked against it. After the call you get notes.
You can install it and run your first call the same day. Pro costs €29 a month with a 7-day trial and Team €49 per seat, with no platform fee; there’s also a free version that runs on your own API keys. It doesn’t do QA scoring or contact center analytics, and it runs on Mac only. Details on the sales assistant page.
How to choose
- A contact center with 10 or more agents on a softphone, selling over the phone with scripts and compliance rules: Balto is built for you. Ask Balto what results it expects on your call types; its FAQ says it will tell you if it doesn’t expect them.
- A small team that already calls through Aircall, Dialpad or Ringover: try the coach in your phone system first.
- A small team that sells on video calls, or needs answers about prices and products during the call: try a desktop assistant on a week of real calls.
Test on a week of your own calls
Pick five real calls from last week and write down the three questions on each that slowed the rep down. Then run each tool you’re considering on a week of new calls and check the same three things: did help appear before the buyer moved on, did it answer the question the buyer asked, and did the rep use it.
